Yes, I want to book appointments from my blog!
Use your blog to drum up ...
Let me tell you up front this isn't about being swept up to Heaven. Then, again, maybe it is. In a way. This doesn't have anything to do with any Faith. Then, again, maybe it does. In my way. This little diatribe started out as a plea for all the hubbub to be over in the halls of Newsvine. Then I engaged my brain and realized there was a lot more to be said about all the people waiting for some great thing to come to pass in their lives. When I think of waiting I think of lines. Lines make me think of wasted time. Why should we stand in line when we could be doing something constructive and just let things pass over us in their good time. Then my brain engaged my mind and I suddenly was constructing all kinds of theories about why we wait, why we should, why we shouldn't and the pro's and con's of waiting. Ready?
The Human organism is confined and released by time. Time is an element of humanity that seems to mostly cause anticipation while occasionally providing relief for those who can relax and let time do all the work. This, too, shall pass. Yes, time provides that consolation. Fear and anticipation, both eager and dreaded anticipation are also a result of time. If we could only do away with the clock we could experience life as it comes instead of standing in line waiting on it. But, then, isn't timing absolutely needed to give humans some of their greatest pleasures? Doesn't timing fill some of our deepest needs? Nine months to go from a little blob to a full grown baby. Isn't the wait worth it? Would we appreciate it as much if it didn't take time to mature?
We can all understand why the best comedians are those with the best timing. Can't we? They know just when enough time has lapsed to release the laugh lines. The best comedians allow things to build until the listener begins to perspire with anticipation and then the jokester slaps them with the punch line. See how it all can tie together. Anticipation, then get in line for the punch, and then, Whap!, a sudden release in hearing what becomes a chuckle or a laugh or at least a pleasant smile. I guess you could say a good joke is just like waiting for the rapture. It is all based on anticipation and fulfillment.
So, where is all this going? It is going where my brain allowed my mind to wander into what may be coming, what I desire to come and what we can all hope is answered in due time by our anguish and anticipation in our current endeavor. In Newsvine, as in all things, This, Too, Shall Pass. Given adequate time and proper timing we will emerge with either a tremendous joke or a newborn babe which we can swaddle and hold to our hearts. I just hope it doesn't take nine months.
OK, so I didn't provide answers to all the questions I raised. I am not a know-it-all. I thought maybe some readers would like to fill out some answers with their comments. I will be sitting here waiting.
